When I attempt to start the service I receive an error 1067

The error code 1067 is displayed on Windows systems when the service cannot start. There are two main causes of this:
  1. The setup mode is still active, you must return to setup mode and end the process through the shutdown link.
  2. You have another application running on port 443. For Windows 2000 this will be IIS, for other Operating Systems you will need to find out what process is using the port. There are two solutions for this, change the port that SSL-Explorer forwards on, or to change the port/shutdown the application that is currently using port 443.

Another, much rarer, cause of this issue is that the SSL-Explorer service is unable to start due to a mis-configuration of SSL-Explorers wrapper.conf file. This was discovered during an upgrade as the service was moved from one system to another. In this case the problem was with the wrapper.java.command pointing to the wrong location, this could also cause issues if you upgrade your Java version and remove the old version. As such we advise that if your service will not start and you have no SSL-Explorer instances running or other services on port 443 please confirm that the wrapper.java.command in the wrapper.conf file is pointing to the correct location.

wrapper.java.command examples (Note: this can still vary a lot and depends on exactly where Java was installed to and what version it is:

Windows: wrapper.java.command=c:/program files/java/jre1.6.0_01/bin/java
Linux: wrapper.java.command=/usr/java/jre1.6.0_01/bin/java
